WMS Scan items with custom field as barcode

Hello, We are migrating to NetSuite, and in the process are changing to a better item name/number scheme. Our warehouse is labelled with the old product codes. We cross these in NetSuite by a custom field called 'Legacy Product Code'.

How can we set up the WMS scanning to recognize this legacy code and bring up the correlated item?
