TIP: Get Record Name Using SuiteScript - SuiteAnswers 88939

edited Jun 2, 2025 2:52PM in SuiteCloud / Customization 1 comment

This is not a question, it is a How-To. SuiteAnswers 88939 says, in part, "Currently there is an Enhancement 203898 for SuiteScript API's to include a method that returns Record Name." then gives a solution using native Javascript and DOM (which of course they also say you should never do). Here is a better solution:

let rec = context.currentRecord; (or however you get the record)
let recordName = search.lookupFields({
type: rec.type,
id: rec.id,
columns: ['type']
}).type[0].text;

Howdy, Stranger!
