New to NetSuite | Amortization Template 102: Amortization Methods
In the previous article, we discussed the permissions required for creating amortization schedules and templates, as well as the various types of templates available in NetSuite. Building on that, this article will explore the various amortization methods used to establish amortization terms for expenses.
The following straight-line methods are available below:
- Straight-line, by even periods
- Straight-line, prorate first & last period
- Straight-line, using exact days
- Straight-line, prorate first & last period (period-rate)
Straight-line, by even periods
This method amortizes expenses evenly for each period. All periods recognize equal amounts. The term includes the start date and end date you define.
To illustrate, here’s a Bill containing four items with similar amounts but assigned different amortization methods:
