New to NetSuite | N/record: record.Column Object
In our previous article, New to NetSuite | Understanding SuiteScript 2.x Modules, we explored the SuiteScript Modules and N/record module, New to NetSuite | N/record Module Overview, which is used to interact with records. Now, we’ll take a closer look at one of the members of N/record: the record.Column object.
The record.Column object represents a column within a sublist of a record in NetSuite. It doesn’t return a value from a field—instead, it provides metadata or information about the column itself.
Think of it like this: if you load a Sales Order and inspect the "item" sublist, each has a definition. This object lets you retrieve details about that definition—not the actual data in the cells.
