NSC | Restrict Custom Record Access by Department, Class, or Location
Use Case: Organizations may need to limit access to custom records based on a user’s department, class, or location to improve data security and ensure users only view records relevant to their role.
NetSuite allows this by combining custom segment fields with role restrictions.
How It Works:
- In the custom record, create a field with the following settings:
- Type: List/Record
- Source List: Department, Class, or Location
- Enable the Apply Role Restrictions checkbox on the custom record.
- Open the applicable Role record and go to the Restrictions subtab.
- Set the appropriate segment restriction option:
- Own, Subordinates, and Unassigned
