NSC | Resolve Error: "Field 'internalid' Not Found" on Custom Field in a Matrix Subitem Record

Use Case: 
Users may encounter the following error when attempting to assign the Internal ID of a Matrix Subitem Record into another Custom Field using a Workflow: 

Field 'internalid' Not Found 

This occurs because the Internal ID field cannot be referenced directly in the workflow. Creating a custom formula field that stores the record ID allows the value to be used in workflows. 

How It Works: 

  1. Navigate to Customization > Lists, Records, & Fields > Item Fields > New 
  2. Enter the following field details: 
  • Label: Enter a label  
  • Type: Select Free-Form Text  
  • Store Value: Remove the checkmark  

3. On the Applies To tab and enable the following:
