SPAM emails are being recorded under communication tab

We have an instance where we are getting 4-5 spam emails, daily, in the communications tab on an account.  does anyone know how to stop this?  I read about enhancement 233193 in a different post about spam in NS.  Would this enhancement apply to our problem?

If not, anyone else have this problem?
