Transaction to Excel

Does anyone have any insight into how we could get transactions to be exported in Excel format? I'm not talking about search results or a report of transactions - I mean when you're on a transaction record and you want to email it or save it to a file, currently the only built-in options are attached HTML file, inline HTML or PDF.

Currently we email it as attached HTML file, open that in Excel, and re-save it. This is time consuming and the conversion looks horrible.
