Is there a way to filter drop down lists?

We are trying to filter values on a list based on certain criteria. I'm not sure if it's possible natively or if this is something we would have to do with scripting.

Example: Full list: A, B, C, D, E, F & G

But if it's on form one the list is A, C, E & G
