Question on FA module

One question re FA module.

Namely, the company already using FA module but not alternate depreciation (other method) option. Now we added alternate method on asset types (no GL impact of alternate depreciation), run depreciation, but alternate method is not added to the assets. We have tried do run precompute values, but still nothing happened. Did we missed some steps in the process? Or it means that for existing assets we have to perform import of alternate depreciation method and that only for new assets (added in register after alternate method is added to asset type)  alternated method will be added  automatically – based on
