Beginning balance of a depreciation account for the fixed asset summary report not equal the prior

Does anyone know why the beginning balance of a depreciation account for the  fixed asset summary report would not equal the prior month ending balance for the same account? I'm not sure which reports or searches would be helpful in figuring out this discrepancy.
