Saved Transaction Search - no results using Filter

We use a saved search to gather payment (record) information.  One of the results is Check Number which I believe is a free form text field. 

Check Number is also one of the available filters.  When I enter a known check number into the filter, it brings back no results.

Any idea why that is?
