can you freeze a column in a pivot table in a portlet

I create a pivot with row titles frozen, it works for that session but is no longer checked after the workbook is saved. That means when I put the pivot on a portlet and scroll to the right the first column on the left (financial locations) won’t stay fixed as I scroll.  Is this a bug?  Help!
