Using Last Sales Activity

the new Last Sales Activity bundle seems to offer wonderful potential -but I'm having trouble actually using it.

What I'd like to have is a custom transaction body field containing the 'Days Since last Sales Activity' on my opportunities - which I can search against and use on dashboards...

I've tried the following- with no  result -is this a syntax issue? 

({today}-{custbody_last_sales_activity_date})

Do I need a decode stmt to account for null values?

support has not been at all helpfull...:mad:

suggestions?
