Can't update a NonInventorySaleItem deferredrevenueaccount using NetSuiteService

I'm using NetsuiteService.php class to manage our Netsuite records but I'm having issues setting the deferredrevenueaccount RecodRef value. I'm able to submit the update and I get a success 1 back from the API but the record information isn't changed.

Is there a special setting or parameter I need to update deferredrevenueaccount from an API call?
