Hi all,

There is currently a connectivity issue with our badge image server -- you may not be seeing your badge images. We're aware of the issue and working to fix it. If I learn more or get a timeline for a fix, I'll update this post.

Update: We believe that this has been resolved.  Let me know via a comment, post in the Feedback space, or direct message if that's not the case!

Thanks!

Monique

The community will be read-only on Friday, January 29th, and will be in a read-only state for approximately four hours, from 21:00 Friday - 01:00 Saturday PST (05:00 - 08:00 Saturday UTC).  During the read-only state, you will not see content that was posted for the two hours immediately prior to the outage. Once the outage is over, all content should again be visible. You should not see any changes on the community as a result of this outage, but let us know if you see any issues, bugs, or problems.

Thanks!

Monique

Unscheduled outage

Posted by moniquevdb-Oracle Jan 18, 2016

The community experienced some performance issues and an unscheduled outage today, January 18. The issue is still being investigated. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thanks for being part of Oracle Community!

Hi all -- rolling over the known issues thread, and moving some of these items to post-upgrade.  The next upgrade is targeted for early next year -- I'll get more specific as I know more about that.

** indicates updates since the last thread.

  • Actions are not working (users receive notifications but cannot view actions) [This is an intermittent issue, and being investigated now.]**
  • Issue with editor toolbar and other content getting trapped behind the forum header [Also looking at this for our next upgrade, may be able to fix sooner]
  • Latest reply does not always show latest reply [Known issue, seems to be related to post editing -- will look to improve in next upgrade]
  • Mention of a Patch generates a link to nowhere. [Issue currently under investigation]
  • Me in 3 is not working [This is due to a required security change; we are investigating options]
  • There is a points discrepancy being reported by some users per this thread: Difference between points -- please post reports there so we can get a scope of the issue. **
  • "Skill endorsement removed" message still being shown to users

Will be fixed with or after the next upgrade:

  • Links for Latest Acclaims (likes) work for replies of discussions, but not for comments on documents.**
  • Editor toolbar is not sticky. [There will be a fix in the newest version of the software; narrow your browser window as a workaround.]
  • Cannot view posting as a pdf [Issue is random and a bug is open  -- Fix is coming with next upgrade at the latest ]
  • Issues with inbox counter not being accurate [Logging in and logging out will often fix this]
  • Crashes when using Safari with iOS 7.1.1 on iPad  (and other general iOS issues) [Upgrade will be tested with Safari] **
  • Settings allowing users to branch posts and delete posts and replies [We will need to customize this to preserve mod and admin permissions.]**
  • Remaining editor errors per List of forum editor issues and bugs [Cases opened for bugs, but we are now looking at building a custom code editor if possible] **

The community will be read-only on Friday, November 13th, and will be in a read-only state for approximately five hours, from 21:00 Friday - 02:00 Saturday PST (05:00 - 09:00 Saturday UTC). This outage is related to the migration of data from the Java.net community, and you should not see any changes otherwise. As always, alert us if anything looks wrong.

Thanks!

Monique

If you're attending Oracle OpenWorld at the end of the month, make sure to stop by the OTN Lounge in Moscone South to meet your community managers for OTN, MOSC, and Topliners. You'll get a button, a rewards badge, and some points just for checking in and saying hello! For a detailed look at all our events and a schedule of when your community managers will be in the lounge, visit theOTN at Oracle OpenWorld group.

At JavaOne, you can go to the OTN Community Cafe infodesk in the Java Hub and ask to get scanned to get your real-life button and online badge. For more on the events at JavaOne, visit the Code One space.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'm looking forward to seeing many of you there!

As you may have seen in the Re: Inbox not working thread, the fix on Friday did not completely resolve the issue with inbox and notifications. The team is handling this as a high priority and we'll let you know when a new fix is expected.

Monique

Hi all,

We will be doing a release tonight that includes a fix for the inbox notification issues that have been reported. Thanks for your patience and for keeping the reports rolling in.

We will also be deploying a new theme for the Java space. You can go to Java to learn more, and provide feedback in Ideas for the New Java Space.

Thanks!

Monique

Users are reporting that they are missing inbox notifications. The admins and tech team are also seeing the issue on our own accounts. This is also affecting email notifications for some users.

We have identified the underlying issue and are testing a fix. Please see the thread here for more frequent updates: Re: Inbox not working.

Rolled over as promised from this thread: Known issues, the latest and greatest

Community.oracle.com will be switched to read-only mode at 21:00 PT on Friday, September 18th (04:00 UST on Saturday the 19th). There will be a banner at the top of the community to alert users to the read-only state.

Important: The read-only mode will not reflect data for the 90 minutes prior to the read-only mode -- once the community is back online, you'll see that data again. The outage is expected to last between 2.5 and 3.5 hours, and you should not see any changes in the community after this outage.

Thanks!

Monique

On Saturday August 8, between 0730 and 0930 Pacific (1430 to 1630 UST), our team is planning a small hardware upgrade. You may encounter brief outages on community.oracle.com during that time. We project no more than two outages, of no more than 15 minutes each. If an outage occurs, we'll be displaying our standard community splash page. Otherwise, there shouldn't be any impact to the community.

Thanks,

Monique

Our thread tracking known issues, Known issues, the latest and greatest, has been updated. The next time I roll over the thread, I will create it as a blog post for those of you following the blog only.

Thanks!

Monique

There will be a community release this weekend, with no outage or read-only mode expected. This release will include, at long last, the shrinking of the giant banners across OTN, Topliners, and our internal community per Smaller Forum Banners. The new smaller artwork will need to be put into place manually, so you may see some look and feel issues for a couple of days. We'll let you know when we think we're done and you can let us know if we missed anything.

One important note: we are working on improving search accuracy and speed, and part of this will be a rebuilding of our search index. We expect this to take up to 8-9 hours, starting at approximately 21:00 Friday Pacific (05:00 Saturday UTC). During that time period, search will not work as expected. Our apologies in advance for the inconvenience -- you should see an improvement in search performance when we're done.

Thanks,

Monique

Going forward, the admin team will be making announcements and posting known issue to this space blog, rather than in individual discussion threads. The posts will still show up in the Recent Content list and you will still be able to comment on them. However, now you will also have the option to Follow the blog via email or your inbox to make sure you never miss any important announcements from admins.

To follow this blog, click on this link, then click Follow in the right-hand column.

Select E-mail Watches to get alerts sent to your email, or Inbox to have them sent to your community inbox.

Thanks!
