At the JD Edwards Summit 2015, JD Edwards announced the launch of JD Edwards Integration Platform. The topic of integrations has been a long standing source of discussion. JD Edwards offers a broad range of integration options to fit our customers’ expanding needs to share JD Edwards EnterpriseOne business processes and data with external systems. This launch includes the roll out of supporting collateral.

Access the new and very valuable white paper and other content on this topic here. Watch this page on the JD Edwards Resource Library for more content to be posted in the coming weeks.

INSTALL, UPGRADE and MIGRATE: Module 4 of the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne My Oracle Support Accreditation focuses on installations, upgrades and migrations - i.e. implementations of EnterpriseOne. Implementation projects can be complex and are often major projects for a company, so it's important to be aware of best practices and know where to find important resources to minimize the time and expense involved in the project. This module shows how "Sean", a project manager uses the tools available to him for planning and undertaking an upgrade project. The EnterpriseOne implementation toolkit includes important resources to use for an install, upgrade or migration project and includes: implementation project resources, finding answers for implementations, net change tools and upgrade simplification tools. Remember to access the EnterpriseOne Accreditation path from Doc ID 1625633.1 and use the Study Guide in conjunction with the video (approx. 7 minutes) associated with this module.

NewFeature.pngWe've made enhancements to improve performance with credit checking functionality in the sales order entry processes. The enhancement include providing a new business view to improve performance. Prior to the enhancement, the credit checking logic was an interactive process. When a parent record indicated a high volume of child records, users saw slower response times.

We improved performance at the Parent / Child level for Credit Check Levels C, S, L, and P.

We also added a new external function in Credit Check Processing (B4200420) to perform the get parent and child address Amount Due and Gross Amount values instead of looping between Accumulate A/R Balance (B4200510) and B4200420.

For more information on the enhancement, review Credit Checking Performance Enhancements (Doc ID 1617841.1).

NewFeature.pngAvailability calculation in a License Plate Branch Plant prior to EnterpriseOne 9.1 required users to navigate through several applications and mathematically calculate loose item availability and commitments. In order to accurately measure inventory levels, warehouse users now have a new inventory application (P46230) with the ability to view both inventory information (F41021 and F4108) and Warehouse Detail (F46L10, F46L11 and aggregated F46L12) information in a single view. For more information on this new enhancement see Warehouse Availability Inquiry Application (P46230) (Doc ID 1968247.1).

TROUBLESHOOTING: Module 3 of the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne My Oracle Support Accreditation revolves around troubleshooting issues in EnterpriseOne. The troubleshooting toolkit has knowledge resources and diagnostic tools that can be leveraged by technical and functional users. The troubleshooting tools covered are: Troubleshooting Assistants, Information Centers, Server Manager and Performance Workbench. The video and Study Guide use specific examples and show how you can use each of these troubleshooting tools to tackle common types of issues you may need to resolve.  Remember to access the EnterpriseOne Accreditation path from Doc ID 1625633.1 and use the Study Guide in conjunction with the video (approx. 6 minutes) associated with this module.

Workflow, Send Shortcut, and Parameterized URL have long been utilized with E1, but have you ever wished you could easily email an E1 URL or meeting request directly from E1 using your Apple, Outlook, Thunderbird or Gmail account?  Well now you can with the 9.1.5 collaboration enhancements.

Previously, a work around existed such as using Google API or custom coding, as discussed in Is it Possible to Integrate an EnterpriseOne Application with Third Party Web Applications Such as Google Calendar? (Doc ID 1683962.1), but now, the functionality is built directly into the tools code.

This Email and Calendar Integration is the first step of social integration into EnterpriseOne applications directly. The Send Email and Send Invite options are in two places, but are currently only implemented for these specific applications by default:

  • P01012 Address Book
  • P4210 Customer Service Inquiry
  • P04012 Supplier Master
  • P087712 Supervisor Work with Performance Appraisals

Tools Menu Drop Down Example

  1. Open P01012 Address Book
  2. Press Find
  3. Select a grid record
  4. Menu exit for Tools > Collaborate

Hover Form Example

  1. Open P01012 Address Book
  2. Press Find
  3. Hover over the red square until you get the more option
  4. Click the pad
  5. Select the Collaborate tab

Complete details on using and configuring this new feature can be found in Email and Calendar Integration starting with 9.1.5 (Doc ID 1960267.1).

Journal Entry Batch Processing is a method of taking information from an external system and converting it so that it can be processed as EnterpriseOne transaction. To do this, a custom program needs to be created to upload the fields in the Journal Entry Transactions – Batch File Table (F0911Z1).

The batch process is an edit program that verifies that the information entered in the F0911Z1 table is processed correctly into the Account Ledger (F0911) table. If external transaction are attempted to update the transaction table without using the batch process, it could result in compromised data in the Account Ledger table.

After the custom program loads the transaction information into the F0911Z1 table, the Journal Entry Batch Processor program (R09110Z) needs to be run. Running this program processes the information in the F0911Z1 table and loads it into the Account Ledger Table (F0911).

Any additional information that is necessary for a completed transaction is loaded from other sources or calculated from existing information. For example:

  • The document number originates from the Next Number program (P0002).
  • The document type defaults from the Master Business Function (P0900049).
  • The fiscal year and period are calculated from the G/L date and Company Names & Numbers program (P0010).
  • The F0911 company number is assigned base on the business unit from the first line of the account distribution.

You can read more about the Journal Entry Batch process, and the required and optional fields in documents Overview of Annual Close Report (R098201) (Doc ID 664688.1), Overview of Journal Entry Batch Upload Process (Doc ID 664757.1), and Frequently Asked Questions on the Journal Entry Batch Upload Process (Doc ID 664756.1).

The Stay Informed module shows how "Ed", an EnterpriseOne user, looks at his options to create an approach that works for his needs and schedule. In the module are options to Stay Informed (such as hot topics email notifications), Stay Connected (including social media), Find Answers (such as the Faster Resolution document), Stay Educated (such as the JDE Resource Library), and Stay Current (such as using the Events page).
