Often, it is difficult to define, associate and track the Demand and associated Supply for a Customer Order, as it moves from Sales Order Entry through Material Management through Shop Floor Activities and Final Shipment. Production Number functionality within JD Edwards EnterpriseOne the system allows an User/Planner to define and track Customer Demands from Sales Order Entry through Final Shipment.

Demands can be tracked using a unique Production Number, which is generated or entered at the time of Sales Order Entry or Forecast Entry. Material Requirements Planning (MRP) populates all messages generated from the Customer Demand with the Production Number. It is usually a User Defined, Structured Format Identifiers based on Production Number Type, Company, Production Number Structure definition, one or more Sequence Codes and a Next Number.
