Webcast Advisors - what are they?

 

Webcast Advisors are live presentations on one specific topic.  An Oracle subject matter expert will present the topic and conclude by responding  to questions from the attendees that day.   Most take about 1 hour.  They are recorded and posted to a My Oracle Support (MOS) document.

Even if you didn't register for the Webcast Advisor, you can still view the slides and hear the recorded presentation afterwards.

You will see the tabs "Archived 2014", "Archived 2013", "Archived 2012",  and "Archived 2011" which list recordings given previously.  They are all still available to you. 

 

Use the column "View and Download" to do either:  you can click on Recording to cause the presentation to download and start to play in about 1 minute.  Or, click on the .pdf link to download that version of the presentation slides that you can view right away, or save for another time.

Of course, you can find the up and coming presentations in the  "Current" tab.  

 

What topics have been presented and recorded?

PeopleSoft is always searching for new ways to help our customers be more productive and efficient while using our applications. Based on industry best practices and customer feedback, we have redesigned our PeopleSoft help solution to include the following enhancements:


  • A modern user interface to engage with our application help content.
  • A new content structure that allows for a more intuitive help-content to application-page relationship.

 

Our new help solution interface looks and functions much like a website, rather than our past book format structure for help documentation and offers you a navigation option similar to the websites you’re already familiar with using on a daily basis.

 

You have multiple ways to navigate to help information. You are able to access information:

 

  1.     Through the Help link on the application pages.
  2.     By browsing by product.
  3.     Through pertinent related links, and
  4.     By using search mechanisms.

 

Along with the new help solution, we continue to deliver our very popular hosted documentation and downloadable PDFs. No matter how you might want to access our help documentation, PeopleSoft has made every option as easy and informative as possible.

 

The new HTML format (optimized for the web and similar to what is being used in other PeopleSoft products) is called 'Online Help' and can be found with the entire PeopleSoft Online Library.  You can also go directly to the Campus Solutions Online Help Home.

Bundles are still the primary means of applying maintenance for Campus Solutions and we know just how challenging maintenance can be to your enterprise.  When you have difficulty applying a bundle or have issues after applying one, we want to make sure that we keep you apprised of all the issues we know about as quickly as we can.  To do that, Campus Solutions Support publishes a master note regarding each bundle that details problems applying the bundle, problems attributed to the bundle and any general information that you should know for the application of this maintenance.


The most recent bundle, Campus Solutions Bundle #35, is not without its challenges and we have documented a master note for this bundle in Campus Solutions CS 9 Bundle #35 - Master Note for Questions or Problems with Patchset 19357125 (Doc ID 1936947.1).  The note was created in October and is still being updated whenever we encounter issues applying the bundle or arising from it after it has been applied.  If you are in the process of applying this maintenance, or have recently done so, we encourage you to review and book mark this master note.

Where to start?

In My Oracle Support, navigate to the PeopleSoft Update Manager Home Page, document 1641843.2.  Find the Learning About PeopleSoft Update Manager tab, then click on the Training and Resources link.

 

Once there you'll see the three training videos "PeopleSoft Update Manager End to End Training".  They have been updated since first being released for PeopleTools 8.53, and are current for PeopleTools 8.54.   The End to End refers to all tasks covered - soup to nuts.   The videos are an excellent Getting Started view of how to use PUM.

 

In the Resources section on that same page, click on the link to Oracle University.   Once there, you will see the course PeopleSoft Update Manager Release 8.54.   The Oracle University class is being taught in two formats:  as Classroom training and as a Live Virtual class.   Both are two days in length.    See tab Course Topics for a preview of topics covered.

If you are working with the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) and discovering some difficulties, please check out the information in National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) 2014 Proactive Information and Known Issues (Doc ID 1926926.1). In this Knowledge article, you will find the most up to date information regarding the issues that we are working on, the Bug and/or Patch ID and Knowledge article with discussions about the issue.

 

In July 2014 the National Student Clearinghouse announced updates to NSC processing that necessitated updates to the PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions product. You can read more about this in Announcing July 2014 Updates to NSC Processing (Doc ID 1668682.1).  Oracle then delivered the necessary changes in NSC Reporting Changes Patch 18069321 and we documented  the changes in National Student Clearinghouse Reporting Requirements 2014 Supplemental Documentation (Doc ID 1901314.1).

 

Since then, NSC announced further changes that required Oracle to respond with another critical patch. After delivery of this second critical patch, some programming issues were found that required action, and we have compiled those issues and actions in the document mentioned above.

The Cumulative Feature Overview Tool - what is it?

A small executable that tells you the differences between releases, by product family or by sub-products. 

Here's an example:   In the HCM Tool, select all products or just a few...Benefits Administration, Human Resources, North American Payroll, etc.  Select your starting release (9.2) and the target release (9.2 Image 9). 

The Tool will run quickly, and output  is presented to you listing a short description of a new feature, the first release it is present in the product, minimum PeopleTools required, BUG ID (if applicable), a link to documentation, and a link to a Video Feature Overview  (if available).

 

CFO Tool - when is this good to use?

When preparing for an upgrade - to find the specific differences by sub-product between your Current Release and the New (Target) Release.   This can help set expectations of end users;  or help you plan for testing after the application maintenance is completed or after the upgrade is completed.  

When preparing for application maintenance.  Many times, the output report will contain links to documentation about a new feature, or to a Oracle/Psft Youtube channel video about that new feature.

 

CFO Tool - what is new?

Hint:  the new name is WEBCFO.  This is now a html web-based tool that can be viewed on all devices:  laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc.

The report output can be saved in PDF format or exported to an excel spreadsheet.  

And now, starting with PeopleSoft's application 9.2 releases, the Current and Target releases can be specified by PUM Image #.

Example:  if you want to find the difference between application release 9.2 Image 4 and 9.2 Image 5, this can be specified for Current release and Target release.   If you want to find the differences between application release 9.0 and 9.2 Image 5, these too can be specified for Current release and Target release.

CFO Tool - where to find it?

See MyOracle Supprt document 1117033.1, the PeopleSoft Cumulative Feature Overview Tool Homepage.  Once there, you can find the product specific version of CFOs, including HCM, FMS, SCM, EPM, CRM, Portal, PTools, and Campus Solutions.
