The January 2016 update to the Oracle Lifetime Support Document clearly illustrates Oracle’s commitment to support PeopleSoft HCM and Financials (FMS/ESA/SCM) 9.2 “through at least” December 2027.  You can see the updated Oracle Lifetime Support Document here. The PeopleSoft updates are on page 9 (and below):

The key points PeopleSoft customers should take away from this are:

 

1)    Support for PeopleSoft HCM and Financials (FMS/ESA/SCM) 9.2 applications is extended through to 2027.

2)    Changes to support timeline driven by Oracle’s Continuous Delivery model and PeopleSoft Selective Adoption.

3)    Clarified the policy for updating support dates due to continuous Oracle’s Continuous Delivery model with the included statement “Support dates are evaluated for update annually, and will be provided through at least the dates above”.

In PUM 15, PeopleSoft enhanced existing Guided Self Service (GSS) with new features and functionality for the manager and HR Admin. We delivered the following new features:

 

1) The new ‘Last Day Worked” field for Retirement/Termination transaction

2) New GSS transaction “Request Reporting Change” – updates Reports To for an employee (and upon approval will update Position Management and Job Data).

In PUM 14, PeopleSoft delivered two important Manager Self Service features for Guided Self Service (GSS):

 

 

1) New action/reason – “Position Change/Reports to Change”

 

Why did we add this action/reason?

 

The Guided Self Service (GSS) Focus Group requested the ability for a manager to iniate a Reports To change for employees in position (and once approved it would update position management & job data with the new reports to).  Focus Group requested a specific reason “Reports To” vs. using the generic ‘Position Change’(easier to idenify the change in Job Data/Position with reason ‘Reports To’).

 

In order for GSS to use this transaction, CORE HR and Position Management first needed to be updated – since GSS is a ‘front-end’ into Job Data and Position Management.

 

This new action/reason is available to use in Job Data and Position Mgmt – even if you are not using Guided Self Service.

 

  •     New Position Reason – Reports To Change now available to use

2) End-2-End integration for GSS> Position Management>Job Data

 

Why did we make this change?

 

The Guided Self Service (GSS) #1 enhancement request was to have a manager initiate a transaction (Location Change) and upon approval have the information update Position Management and Job Data.  Prior to PUM 14, if a manager initiated a Location Change, transaction would be approved but an HR Admin would have to manually key the transaction into Job Data/Position Mgmt.  This is the #1 reason why customers modified MSS or didn’t roll out MSS (no end-2-end integration).

 

With PUM14, PeopleSoft has delivered the end-2-end integration for Location Change and Full/Part-Time Change.  Additional transactions with position mgmt/job data will be delivered in future PUMs (location & status change is just the start).

Note: PeopleBooks will be updated (very soon) will detailed info on the new functionality being delivered in PUM 14 for GSS.

 

  •     Current functionality for Position Management prior to PUM 14.  HR Admin would have to manually update the transaction for job data/position mgmt.

The new PeopleSoft Online Help (formerly PeopleBooks) has been updated with mobile friendly responsive design. The display format will automatically adjust based on the device you are using, like a smart phone or a tablet.


The interface as gone through a major design change, adding a new navigation choices, such as a tree taxonomy, and Business Map navigation. Finally, even more video media has been embedded into the help, with the introduction of the PeopleSoft Online Help videos, which are non-audio demos of functionality, best practices, and implementation steps.

Did you know that PeopleSoft publishes functional and technical TOI (Transfers of Information) regarding new 9.2 features (current through PUM 9+). 

These videos are 20-30 minutes and provide a deeper dive on the functionality. These videos are produced by the Oracle PeopleSoft Strategy & Development team.

The TOI videos were originally used for internal sales training but these are now posted for customers to access.

Some Campus Solutions customers are experiencing an issue with CS pages not rendering correctly.  This has been happening after their PeopleTools has been upgraded to v8.54.

 

This issue is caused by customers using the default style sheet that comes with PT 8.54, which is Tangerine.  This style sheet does not work for CS.  CS Customers should use delivered style sheet PSSTYLEDEF, and style sheet SSS_STYLESHEET for Self-Service.
