With the recent rollout of the 485 release, a critical issue was uncovered on January 30th, 2016 impacting all customers on all PODS. The issue occurs when an existing segment is opened, the system visually displays the criteria in an order that is different than what was saved. Note that even though the displayed order is incorrect, the database will still hold the correct segment definition if the user does not re-save the segment. We ask that you do not open or re-save existing segments until we can apply a hot fix to address the issue. If you require further assistance or have additional questions, please contact the Oracle Eloqua Support team.

Required Action: We ask that you do not open or re-save existing segments as to preserve the order of your segment criteria until we can apply a hot fix to address the issue.

FAQ’s:

Can I continue my regular use of the Eloqua platform?

No, you are advised to not open or re-save existing segments. Otherwise you may use the platform as you regularly do; campaigns and other services will continue to run normally.

Was there any data loss?
No, there was not any data loss. However, if an existing segment was opened and re-saved with the incorrect order, the segment definition saved in the database will have changed. This would result in an incorrect contact count for the segment, and potentially the wrong members as part of that segment.

Can you provide more technical details on the issue?

  • Why does the order of the segment criteria matter?
    • When Eloqua evaluates a segment, the system pays attention to the order in which the segment was built and the logical operators between the criteria. A change in the order of the criteria would result in a different segment count and potentially different segment members.

  • What can we expect once the hot fix is applied?
    • Segment criteria will display in the correct order in which it is stored in the database when viewed in the segment builder.

  • Will the hot fix correct segments that were corrupted by re-saving?
    • No, the hot fix will not correct segments that could have been corrupted by re-saving. Please review any segments that were modified prior the hot fix being applied to ensure their accuracy.

  • Do I need to make any modifications to existing campaigns with segments?
    • No, if you have not re-saved or modified the segments within your campaigns there is no further action required as the order of your segment criteria has not been altered.
