What happens to Attachments when an incident is deleted?

Hi

I had a question about what happens when an incident is deleted from RightNow. Say if the incident has attachments tied to it, either something uploaded from a customer portal website or something that was emailed, if that incident is deleted, are the attachment files themselves deleted from the server as well? Or does some database record that ties the incident to the location of the attachment file get deleted, but the file itself remains on the server?
