Adding fields to lefthand side of existing workspace with summary and tabs

We have an existing workspace that we have used since we started using RNT, which has the summary panel at the top and a tab set at the bottom (see screenshot). We want to be able to modify the workspace, without having to redo everything and keep the tab set. I know I did this years ago for a test workspace but am not able to get anything to work. Any tips on how I can "easily" do this? Thanks!
