BULK Insert - Best practice?

We are looking at automating uploads into custom objects. To expand on that slightly:

  1. Every X hours, we have Y CSV files produced into folder Z.
  2. The files are overwritten each time.
  3. We currently have an automated system in place that takes the CSV files and uses the data import wizard to upload the data
  4. Each file is uploaded (added where needed, otherwise update a current one)

Going forward this isn't workable as the automated process (let's call it a robot) isn't flexible enough for this type of work.

My question is other than using the data import wizard, what are the best practices for uploading each file into its own custom object, adding if it doesn't exist already or updating where it does? Each file will contain over 10k rows

Howdy, Stranger!
