Can an AddIn Post to a REST API?

Hi

Looking through the AddIn Documentation, http://documentation.custhelp.com/euf/assets/devdocs/unversioned/Connect_AddIn_Framework/Default.htm, I see that you can Post to a SOAP API. 

Is it possible for an ADD In to post to a RESTful API? Or is that not allowed? I dont see anything in the documentation here.
