This seems to be a very common issue and in spite of a lot of documentation, somehow, this aspect seems to crop up ever so often both among customers and support alike.

Issue Description:

The requester navigates to a Punchout site and orders items and on return to the Edit Requisition page, sees this error on one or more lines:

Line 1: Category Name is required. Check if a valid mapping exists for the Category Name returned from the supplier site. (POR-2010774)

Root Cause:

The item category that is returned in the Punchout Cart does not map to a valid item category that is associated with the item in question.
