Email address creating login name automatically against Contact and how do I default CP login to be Email address not custom Username



I have a couple of questions I was looking for some clarification/help on please.

1. Emails processed into Service Cloud create the Contact and raise an Incident as expected but also set the contact Login field to be the email address automatically. Is there a way of turning this off? The only thing I can see is the configuration setting that auto creates contact - I still need this to happen, I just don't want the login field populated automatically.
