Account Dropdown Widget

Need help overriding

I am trying to edit a line of code in the Account Dropdown widget. In the view it is the call to the login dialog widget. When I override the widget view, everything is deleted as expected (view and javascript). When I extend it, editing the specific line is not an option. I tried creating a new widget and copying the files over manually. I got some pathing issues on the backend that I don't understand. 

 

Am I going about this the wrong way?
