how to remove categories from CategoryProductInput in logic.js

Hello

I have a request to display only one root level category and the sub categories under it on a CUSTOMER PORTAL PAGE.  (see attached screenshot)

The widget input/CategoryProductInput doesn't provide an attribut for such functionality.

Before anyone mentions it, I understand it requires an extended version of the standard widget (or maybe a custom one)
My questionDoes anyone know how to properly address it in logic.js?
