Use of Processing Constraint for B2B order to prevent line cancellation when Work Order is Released

Summary:

Currently when a back to back shipment line is submitted from Sales Order and creates a Supply Order (Work Order), once the Work Order is Released, the customer does NOT want to allow the line to be cancelled.

There appears to be no status return from manufacturing to order management until the work order is completed and Closed.

How can we prevent user from cancelling the sales order line when the Work Order is in Released status?

I looked into Processing Constraint, could we use a custom API Validation Type and simple SQL to look into the WO Status?
