Problems implementing the OKCSSuggestion widget

In trying to implement the OKCSSuggestion widget I run in a couple of issues. If anyone can help me on my way, I would be thankful.

On our pages we have a number of searchwidgets. The only one that seems to work with the OKCSSuggestion widget is the searchsource/SourceSearchField widget. If, for instance, I try to use the OKCSSimpleSearch widget, I can't get the OKCSSuggestion widget to work.

I am also looking for a way to add the selected product to a search and the suggestions. In the documentation for the OKCSSuggestion 1.4 widget it suggests that you can add a product_category, but this does not seem to work. Same with the OOTB OKCSSimpleSearch widget. I'm running a custom widget right now, to handle the product.
