Disable County validation for Customer upload

Content (required):

Our US based client do not require County as part of address validation during Customer upload. They don't use County and their Customer conversion file too does not have County values against the US customer address. I read in one of the notes that the validation can be removed from Setup - Manage Geographies aby querying for the Country (US). However II wanted to check if disabling the County validation at this setup will have any other impact? Can someone please review and advice? Appreciate your help.
