How can we automate monitoring of EDM record count for the purpose of licensing?

We need to monitor our EDM Subscription licenses for all our route-to-live environments including Production and DR. This could be implemented as RestAPI or an EPMAutomate command. We know we can get this figure from "About" in the interface, but we need to schedule and remove the possibility of human error ( on holiday or simply forget or not my responsibility) . We will collate the figures into report and include the historical changes in our subscription. I have raised and Idea now I need vote. Please vote if you think this idea is of interest to you.
