My development efforts in trying to debug an issue has been taking considerably more time because the code that works in the dev environment has been returning a server error (code 500) in staging. Every little tweak needs to be staged to see if it has fixed the issue. Everything works as expected in dev, but in staging, most of the time, I just get a blank page; inspecting the response headers shows code 500, with no further details.

What is the recommended way to debug (step through) the code, given that echo statements don't work either? (It behaves like a .net app, but without even a hint at what went wrong..)

Howdy, Stranger!
