Opening incident opens in top level tab

I believe if you look at the screenshots it's easier to understand my problem the going through my explanation.

We implemented extension that will create an incident (in subtab of main contact tab screenshot attached) when the task has specific fields. It works fine so far. However, when we save the incident it will open up new tab which is not the desire functionality. Is there a way so we can just incident in the current subtab. (screenshot attached)

Based on my troubleshooting when we use update field for task workspace it will cause this problem. (It will open new tab instead of just send the response in the current subtab screenshot attached) We need this functionality as we want to connect incident with task.
