Re-Run Custom Report Field in Workspace from Add-In

I have a custom add-in button for my custom workspace with the related custom fields below.

Field Name: Label: Data Type:
Description Description String
Contact_ID Related Contact* Integer

When a user clicks the custom add-in button, the "Description" field and the "Contact_ID" field should be updated. The "Description" field is shown as updated for the workspace. The "Contact_ID" field is updated as shown by the popup message, yet the actual value in the workspace is empty.

Is this caused by the report not being re-run or is there something specific that could fix this issue, so the workspace will show a new value for the "Contact_ID" field.
