Add-In : Opening child record in same workgroup as parent

Hello,

I have created on add-in to create a task under incident (just to clarify we are not using ootb task control as it is because of some customization requirement), on click of a custom Add Task button, Task workspace opens but it opens in a separate workgroup. I would like to get some heads on, as to what needs to be done to open the child record (Task in this case) in the same workgroup as Incident? If done, Task wouldn't be committed/saved to database unless incident is saved (like it behaves out of the box and we can change
