Setting workspace "dirty" flag

Is there a way to trigger the "Do you wish to save your chagnes?" popup when a user attempts to close a workspace?

use case:

Workspace addin that edits a custom object attached to an incident, when a value is changed on the custom object and the users closes the workspace (not save or save and close.. just close).. it will close without warning the user that values have changed on the custom object...
