Changing Contact - Connect Desktop Javascript API

Hello,
I am writing a small CP page which will allow an agent to change the contact to one from a specific list and i update the Incident Primary Contact in the PHP layer and also set the Incident Contact in the Javascript API.
When I change the Contact on the Incident via the Javascript API - the contact details on the Workspace Console are set to "No Value" instead of the Contacts name (see image below)
- When I refresh or close and reopen the incident the Contact is then correctly displayed
Is there anyway to set the Incident Contact via the API and have it display correctly?
