BUI - Read Custom Field in new/existing Incident

Hello, 

I'm creating a BUI component which will sit on an incident form which can be either for a new or existing Incident 

- When the BUI component runs, it needs to read a custom field from the form which was inputted by the user.

- The BUI component is a Pop Screen which needs to read Custom Field from the form its launched from because it then does a lookup based on this custom field

I was wondering if anyone can help?

I've tried the following but can't get it to read the value on new incident (I haven't tried this on an existing incident yet):
