How to allow apostrophe in EmailAddress

Hi,

 

We have a PHP script which checks for the contact based on Email Address. One of the email address has an apostrophe which is a valid email address. But the Select statement fails. So can anybody help me if there is any way to allow the apostrophe in the SELECT query.
