How is a record being edited by multiple users at the same time handled

Hi,

  Just want to know if anyone has run into multiple users opening the same incident and updating it at the same time. I noticed that the last user save overrides the previous user changes.

Is there a way to track if the incident is already open and do something about it?

OR is there a way to give a message to user that the record is opened by another user?

Any solution that will prevent users loosing their edits done to incidents?

OR is there a merge option so both users changes are saved?
