What is the Tag field for under Interaction Types?

When creating custom interaction types there are multiple fields. One happens to be "Tag". I have not found any further documentation on what this is used for. I assumed it was around adding an automatic tag (label) to a candidate, as that is what they are being referenced as now. This is not the case, and nothing happened with it. I located the following Doc. and all other fields are addressed except that one.
