Duplicate Phone Numbers

I am wondering if there is a way that in the Contact field, I can prevent duplicate phone numbers to be saved? Basically, I don't want our users to save the same contact multiple times by accident and if the phone number is already stored in our system, it would advise that the contact could not be saved because that phone number is already in the system.
