Changed Date handling

Hi,
I am sure I read recently about a change to the way dates are handled in the Customer Portal/PHP and that certain functions shouldn't be used, or there should be a change to date handling.
I cannot find this document/email again and I have a problem with a custom object which, you've guessed it, has a date that no longer works in the console. The date is saved into my custom object from CP no problem, but when I try and retrieve it in the agent console it just says N/A. I can use ROQL to find the dates in the table and they are definitely there with the correct incident ID. Has there been a recent change?
