Contact custom field value is not getting added on Opportunity workspace

I created an addin for integration of opportunity in workspace where on contact selection using addin a webservice is called to get the contact id of that in another system and update that to a contact custom field, the value is getting added but when i try to save the opportunity the field data is no longer available and is not getting added to that contact, can any body tell me how can i make this work
