Oracle Autonomous Linux provides continuous threat monitoring and exploit detection, continuous configuration compliance checks, and prompt fleet-wide operating system security patching and remediation. Oracle Autonomous Linux performs patching and updates while systems are running. We test patches to help ensure that updates don’t break application compatibility. The system also automatically collects diagnostics to check that patches and updates are deployed successfully.
With Oracle Ksplice technology, Oracle Autonomous Linux provides hands-off, automatic security updates every day to the Linux kernel and key user space libraries, with zero downtime, and protects them from external attacks and malicious internal users.

Introducing Oracle OS Management Service
Oracle is also introducing Oracle OS Management Service, a highly available Oracle Cloud Infrastructure component that helps you manage which of your servers to automate or control manually. OS Management Service, via the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure console or APIs, and resource governance policies, also enables you to automate capabilities that will execute common management tasks for Linux systems, including patch and package management, security and compliance reporting, and configuration management. It can be further automated with other Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services like autoscaling, as workloads need to grow or shrink to meet elastic demand. OS Management Service lets you free up resources to enable you to focus on value-added activities and projects important to your business.
With OS Management Service, you can view operating system details, all available updates, and the status of automated management tasks.
OS Management Service lets you create a logical grouping of instances for common tasks such as package updates, and schedule them for immediate, future, or recurring execution.
You can also search by CVE data and information, and determine the packages involved and affected instances.
Drill down to view details and dependencies and install the package.
This service is included by default with Oracle Autonomous Linux images provided by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and you don’t need to install any special software to enable OS Management Service.

The Oracle Autonomous Linux image has moved. It will no longer be available on the Oracle Cloud Marketplace or the Oracle Images catalog. As of this date, it is available from the Platform Images catalog within the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure console, when creating a compute instance.

OS Management Service is currently generally available in the following Oracle Cloud Infrastructure regions: US East (Ashburn), US West (Phoenix), Canada Southeast (Toronto), UK South (London), Germany Central (Frankfurt),, Japan East (Tokyo), and South Korea Central (Seoul).
