Getting Started with Oracle Autonomous Linux

Version 4

Oracle Autonomous Linux is an Oracle Linux operating environment that executes automatic patch updates without human interaction, improves IT staff productivity and security, and reduces downtime. Oracle Autonomous Linux is the first and only autonomous operating environment, and it’s built and optimized for Oracle Cloud. When combined with native Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services that make it simple to deploy and easy to use, it gives you more time to focus on developing your applications.

The Getting Started: Deploying and Configuring Oracle Autonomous Linux on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure guide is available to help you quickly get your Oracle Autonomous Linux instance up and running in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for deploying, configuring, and launching an Oracle Autonomous Linux instance in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and for setting up notifications to inform you about the status of automated patch updates.

You can now deploy an Oracle Autonomous Linux instance directly from the Platform Images catalog in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console. Placing the image in this catalog lets you conveniently pick Oracle Autonomous Linux alongside other Oracle Cloud Infrastructure-provided operating systems when deploying an instance.

To deploy an Oracle Autonomous Linux instance from the Console, go to the main menu, select Compute > Instance, and then click Create Instance. On the Create Compute Instance page, click Change Image Source, and select the Platform Images catalog tab. Select the Oracle Autonomous Linux image, provide the configuration details for your instance, and then click Create to provision the instance.

To configure, monitor, and connect to your instance, follow the detailed instructions in the Getting Started guide. Note that the Oracle Autonomous Linux image is available only from the Platform Images catalog; it will no longer available from the Oracle Cloud Marketplace or the Oracle Images catalog.
