Product Notice: (Eloqua) App Developer Framework – New retry strategy for Notification URL calls (Aug 2020)

Version 1

    Overview

With the arrival of Eloqua release 20C (Aug 2020), Eloqua will retry the Notification URL call over approximately an eight-hour period of time with a backoff strategy.

    What’s changing?

Currently for calls to the App’s Notification URL, if we do not receive a response within 100 seconds, we retry nearly right away, a total of five times, then set those records to error if all five attempts fail. This could all happen in minutes.

With 20C, Eloqua will retry the Notification URL call over approximately an eight-hour period of time with a backoff strategy of the time between calls doubling after each call.

    FAQ

Q: Why are we changing the retry strategy?

A: The current timeframe of retries occurring within minutes does not allow an App to recover. Increasing the retry timeframe increases the chances the App will be able to recover, and avoid having to set step members to error.
