About Dietmar:

Dietmar Aust works as a freelance consultant in Germany, focusing on Oracle Application Express. Starting in 1997, he worked for three years as a consultant for Oracle in Germany. Since then, he has helped numerous leading companies in Germany to successfully deliver web-applications based on the Oracle product stack, especially the Internet Application Server -- Oracle Portal and Reports. Since 2006 he solely focuses on Oracle Application Express.

Throughout the years he has developed a very deep understanding of the infrastructure required to run Oracle APEX applications efficiently. In the beginning it was the Oracle Web Application Server, the Oracle Http Server powered by Apache or the Oracle Internet Application Server, which were based mainly on mod_plsql as the gateway for Oracle APEX. Nowadays Oracle Rest Data Services (ORDS) is the preferred gateway. Dietmar notes: "It is especially powerful when used in conjunction with an Apache http server."

Dietmar has created a step by step guide to optimally configure ORDS in conjunction with a plain Apache http server to support caching, compression and url rewrites:  http://daust.blogspot.de/2015/09/presentation-slides-for-my-ords-talk-at.html

He is a regular presenter at various Oracle conferences (ODTUG, OOW, DOAG), conducts training classes on APEX, co-authored a book on APEX best practices in German (Oracle APEX und Oracle XE in der Praxis), as well as Expert Oracle Application Express in English.
